Order Address Change: Customer Self-Service is a module for PrestaShop stores in which customers correct the delivery address, billing address or both on an order they have already placed. Installation provides careful working defaults, while one settings screen defines eligible statuses, the time limit, the notification recipient and the carrier rule.

An address mistake after checkout becomes a controlled correction instead of a support exchange. The order moves to another address from the customer's own address book while products, payment, carrier, prices, taxes, shipping cost and totals remain exactly as accepted.

The module is quick to start and deep to configure. You control the exact point at which a correction is still safe. It checks order ownership, shop, age, status, physical delivery and order structure, and it restricts delivery changes by selected carriers. An issued invoice locks the billing and delivery addresses recorded on it, while tracking, delivery documents and shipping progress close the delivery path.

The customer works in one accessible address window and adds a new address through the familiar store form when needed. Staff use the same controlled editor on the back office order page, record a reason and acknowledge any warning. Every accepted change leaves searchable before and after evidence, reaches the merchant and optionally the customer, and failed messages are retried or resent from the audit view.

You receive fewer support emails and fewer parcels sent to the wrong place, while invoices and order amounts stay protected and every address correction leaves clear evidence.

Summary of what the module offers

Order Address Change: Customer Self-Service gives a PrestaShop store a controlled way to correct delivery and billing addresses after checkout. Customers solve routine mistakes in their account, staff handle exceptions from the order page, and the commercial order remains intact.

  • Overview: customer and staff corrections after checkout lead to one controlled history.
  • Customer self-service: delivery, billing or both change from one address window on the placed order.
  • Protected order: products, carrier, payment, prices, taxes, shipping cost and totals do not change.
  • Merchant and staff control: exact statuses, maximum age and carrier rules define customer access, while the order editor handles justified exceptions.
  • Evidence and messages: complete before and after history, search, export, delivery status, automatic retries and manual resend.
  • Practical start: careful defaults work immediately, with precise shop settings available when operations need them.

How does a customer correct an address after checkout?

The order page displays the current delivery and billing addresses with one clear way to manage them. The customer chooses another saved address for either role or changes both together. The currently assigned entries remain marked, so the result is clear before confirmation.

Every replacement belongs to the signed-in customer and the current shop. When the required address is not yet in the address book, the standard store form creates it and returns the customer to the order workflow. The combined window works with keyboard, touch and mouse, keeps focus in the right place and closes with Escape.

Known theme layouts show the corrected address immediately. On an unfamiliar layout, the module reloads the authoritative order page and displays the saved result. The ordinary full-page submission remains available as well, so the correction does not depend on one particular theme behaviour.

What stays unchanged, and when does correction stop?

An address correction reassigns only the delivery or billing address attached to the order and its cart. Products, quantities, prices, taxes, discounts, shipping charge, payment method and carrier remain untouched. The customer receives a narrowly defined correction, not a general order editor.

The decision is checked once when the page is shown and again at the moment of saving. If fulfilment advances in the meantime, the newer state wins. Split orders, several shipments and old multi-address carts stay outside customer self-service, while a request that selects the address already in use creates no message or audit entry.

An issued invoice locks both the billing and delivery addresses represented on that document. Delivery also closes after tracking appears, a delivery document exists, the order enters shipped or delivered history, or an active warehouse shipment begins. This keeps accounting records, parcel routing and the address visible to fulfilment aligned.

Which orders qualify, and how do staff handle an exception?

The settings specify the exact order statuses open to customer correction and the maximum age of an order. An empty status selection switches self-service off. The order must belong to a signed-in customer, contain physical goods and stay within a simple fulfilment structure.

Delivery rules mark selected carriers as eligible, mark them as blocked or apply no carrier restriction. Pickup points and parcel lockers therefore keep their assigned destination, while ordinary home-delivery carriers remain open according to the store's policy. Each shop in a multistore installation keeps its own rules and notification recipient.

Authorized staff correct delivery or billing from the back office order page through the same safeguards. The editor explains hard denials, presents operational warnings, requires exact acknowledgement and stores the employee's reason with the change. Customer and staff actions therefore lead to one consistent outcome and one history.

What evidence and notifications follow each change?

Every completed correction receives its own event number and an unchangeable entry containing the order, shop, customer, address type, old and new address copies, actor, source, IP address, notification recipient, employee reason and time. The full audit view searches by order, event, customer and date, opens the before and after detail, paginates the history and exports the selected records.

The merchant message contains the order reference, previous address, replacement address, actor, IP address and a working link to the order. A localized customer confirmation is optional for the shop, and the customer also chooses whether to receive it for an individual correction without suppressing the merchant message.

Message delivery is recorded separately from the saved address change. Failed deliveries enter an automatic retry queue, while an authorized employee resends either recipient's message from the event detail without repeating the address change. This separates proof that the order changed from proof that each recipient was informed.

How does a quick start grow into precise operational control?

A fresh installation starts with common pre-fulfilment statuses, a short correction window, customer confirmations enabled and no carrier restriction. The workflow is therefore useful after the merchant checks one screen and supplies the notification address.

Deeper control stays in the same place: exact statuses, age, carrier mode, selected carriers, customer messages and per-shop values. The module loads its customer interface only on the placed-order detail page and follows the active shop language in the interface and messages.

After a committed correction, warehouse and order-management tools receive the same event number and before and after addresses stored in the audit history. They process one dependable change without creating a separate editing path, while the built-in integrity screen checks the module's settings and required storage.
