Smart Breadcrumbs
Smart Breadcrumbs gives every page of your PrestaShop store a proper breadcrumb trail – one that helps shoppers move around and tells Google exactly where each page sits. Most themes only draw a flat trail on products and categories. This module builds a connected, schema-correct trail on products, categories, CMS pages, manufacturers, suppliers and search, plus your blog, FAQ, knowledge base and documentation when the matching MyPresta modules are installed.
On every indexable page it emits a valid BreadcrumbList in JSON-LD and keeps one canonical trail, safely pruning the duplicate breadcrumb schema it can read from your theme or other modules so you avoid duplicate structured-data warnings. Pages that should stay out of the index – search, cart, checkout, account – still get a helpful on-page trail, but no schema.
Every crumb can open an accessible dropdown of sibling categories, child categories or other products, so visitors jump sideways instead of only back – all as real, crawlable links. It replaces the native breadcrumb on Hummingbird, Classic, Warehouse and custom themes with no template editing, is configured entirely from the Back Office, and works across PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9.

aria-current, escapes every label, respects reduced-motion and keeps sibling links out of your structured data.
Turn bare URL paths into rich breadcrumbs in Google
When a page carries no breadcrumb structured data, Google often falls back to showing the raw URL path in its results. Smart Breadcrumbs emits a valid BreadcrumbList in JSON-LD on every indexable page, built from the very same ordered trail your visitors see, so search engines can render a clean store › Category › Product path instead. Because the visible breadcrumb and the schema come from one source, they always agree.
One canonical BreadcrumbList, not three
Themes and other modules frequently output their own breadcrumb schema, and duplicated structured data is a common cause of warnings in Search Console. Smart Breadcrumbs reads the breadcrumb JSON-LD it can parse – standalone or nested inside an @graph document – keeps a single correct list and safely removes the rest, leaving your Product, Organization and other structured data in place. Anything it cannot safely parse is preserved with an integrity note rather than risked. On pages that should stay out of the index – search, cart, checkout, account – it renders a helpful on-page trail but deliberately emits no schema.
A connected trail on every page, not just the catalog
Most breadcrumb tools stop at products and categories. Smart Breadcrumbs builds a proper trail for CMS pages, manufacturers, suppliers and search as well, and – when the matching MyPresta modules are present – for your blog, FAQ, knowledge base and documentation too. It even connects the account and checkout pages that themes usually leave stranded, so visitors always know where they are. The trail adapts to light content columns and dark hero banners alike, with legible, accessible labels.
Let shoppers jump sideways, not just back
A breadcrumb should be a shortcut, not just a label. With Smart Breadcrumbs every crumb can open a dropdown of sibling categories, child categories or other products in that category – and the Home crumb can list your top-level categories. It follows the WAI-ARIA disclosure pattern, so it works with keyboard and screen readers, opens on tap and scrolls cleanly on mobile. Every option is a real <a href> link, so search engines crawl them without ever opening the menu, and none of them leak into your breadcrumb schema.
Curate the menus, don’t just dump a list
An unsorted list of forty siblings helps no one. Turn on Dropdown Groups and you organise each menu into named sections – for example Revolution Suites and More SEO Modules – with your own headings, keyword matching, manual ordering and an optional “everything else” group. Groups can be global or specific to a category, and a cap plus a “View all” link keeps long lists tidy. Choose the separator and dropdown indicator that suit your theme, from chevrons and carets to plus/minus and dots.
Configured from the Back Office, on any theme
Smart Breadcrumbs replaces the native breadcrumb on Hummingbird, Classic, Warehouse, legacy and custom themes. It detects the active theme automatically – reading the theme name and its parent metadata – and re-aligns the trail into your content column, with a custom selector available for bespoke themes. Nothing to edit in a template. Which page types show a trail, the display preset (Minimal, Boxed, Pill or Underline), separators, dropdown behaviour and how the current page is shown are all controlled from one settings screen, with a built-in integrity check to catch setup issues. Definable Trails let you author the exact ancestor path for chosen product pages when a landing page or campaign product needs to sit somewhere specific.
Accessible, correct and ready for mobile
The current page is marked with aria-current and is never a false link. Every label – including anything reflected from a search query – is escaped, so there is no injection risk, and the JSON-LD is encoded with HTML-safe flags. Reduced-motion preferences are respected, RTL layouts are handled with logical properties and reversed separators, and on small screens the trail scrolls horizontally with soft edge fades instead of wrapping. Trails are cached with targeted invalidation so the work is done once and reused. Runs on PrestaShop 1.7, 8 and 9, and PHP 7.1 and up.
