Session Tracking: Shared Visitor Intelligence

Bot detection, device fingerprinting, browser/OS detection, and session hashing. Shared mpr_sessions table so modules coordinate instead of duplicating.

Know your visitors. Once.

Multiple modules need to know the same things about a visitor: is this a bot? What browser are they using? What device? Is this the same person who visited yesterday?

Without shared session tracking, each module detects this independently. Duplicating work, wasting database queries, and sometimes reaching conflicting conclusions. The Session Tracking package solves this with a shared mpr_sessions table that the participating modules read from.

What it tracks

  • Bot detection: identifies crawlers and automated traffic by user-agent patterns, behavior analysis, and known bot signatures
  • User-agent parsing: browser, operating system and device type (desktop, tablet, mobile), plus a hash of the user agent
  • Session attribution: combines the guest cookie with IP and user-agent evidence, so a session can still be attributed when the cookie is missing
  • Visit frequency: new vs. returning visitor classification

Shared infrastructure

Modules such as Checkout Revolution, Digital Revolution and Security Revolution install this package, so they read visitor context from the same place instead of each keeping their own.
